I remember how difficult it was to find a decent place to live in when I arrived in Barcelona. I have pretty peculiar tastes and only look for dwelling with a special character. I finally came across that wonderful studio for rent near Ciutadella Park, Barcelona and immediately knew it would become my new home as soon as I stepped in.
While walking around I noticed that the clever organisation of the 40-m2 apartment enables every square meter to be used. The interior design blew my mind with this mix of exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, stone walls, parquet floor and various modern decorative items all around the flat.
The main living space connects the living room with the kitchen. The decoration is what makes this space so unusual and intrigues you. The living room is a cosy corner with a 3-seater sofa facing a flat-screen TV and a mannequin as a lamp with a Vespa bike that sits atop of them.
Next to it was the small yet very functional kitchen. It comes fully-equipped with high-quality appliances. I am a fervent cook and it was just perfect.
There is a toilet separated by a sliding door. Its style is truly exceptional with wooden furniture and accessories, and stone walls and gravels around the WC enlightened by lights.
The bedroom was separated by a glass wall with a fish tank in the middle. The hanging bed double is quiet unique. Held by solid ropes, it creates the sensation that you are floating while sleeping. And no, it does not swing, fortunately.
There is an en-suite bathroom with a shower cabin right next to it.
Thanksfully this part of the neighbourhood was very quiet and I could study in piece in the small working area by the dressing room. The latter basically consists of large open wardrobe that could contain all my clothes and belongings. And, trust me, I have a lot…
As I was studying at the Pompeu Fabra University, the location of the apartment was ideal as it is very close to it. When I needed to recharge the batteries I would go for a run in the nearby Ciutadella or to the beach, which is at about 15 minutes on foot. For my groceries, there were various shops in the vicinity. And by being at stone’s throw from the Old city, La Barceloneta and within Poblenou district, I had a very active social life.
If you are a student or a person willing to live independently in style, this studio for rent in a central spot of Barcelona is definitely suitable for you.
